Accommodation
We take pride in offering our guests a comfortable stay with our accommodation featuring hot and cold water, daily maid service (except Sundays), and regular bed linen and towel changes. However, please keep in mind that we do not provide soap, shower gel, shampoo, or conditioner; these can be easily purchased from the mini-markets at the end of the street. As supply is limited, we recommend bringing your personal favourites.
Our lodgings
Experience the perfect combination of traditional African charm and modern comfort in our African roundhouses. Our roundhouses are designed with natural grass roofs that keep the interiors cool even during warmer months, while their spacious and airy layout ensures a comfortable stay. Our roundhouses offer privacy and a romantic ambience, perfect for special occasions or a relaxing vacation away from crowds.
Each roundhouse features a king-size bed with mosquito netting, comfortable mattresses, and bed linen. Floor-standing fans are provided for comfort, and each roundhouse boasts its veranda and sunbeds. Inside, you’ll find a cabinet fridge, wardrobe, wicker seating, full-length mirror, bedside tables and lamps, and a modern extra-large shower head with an adjustable shower hose. Additionally, there is a separate toilet and vanity unit with an African hand basin.
The main lodge’s courtyard suite is a fully self-contained accommodation that comprises a lounge area, hallway, and a separate bathroom. It is available as a one-bedroom suite that accommodates up to 2 people or a two-bedroom suite that accommodates up to 4 people. Each bedroom has a super-king bed (2m by 2m) complete with mosquito nets, comfortable mattresses, and locally crafted furniture, including a large wardrobe, full-length mirror, bedside tables, and a drawer unit.
Furthermore, the suite features a TV, floor-standing fans in all rooms, and a separate bathroom/wet room with a shower, toilet, and hand basin. Guests can enjoy a private veranda with an outdoor seating area that overlooks the courtyard, home to abundant wildlife – a perfect spot to enjoy breakfast while enjoying the natural beauty.
Our garden
Indulge in the peaceful ambience of our exquisite garden, thoughtfully adorned with bird bowls placed strategically to offer you a chance to appreciate the wide variety of avian creatures native to The Gambia. You can relish your breakfast, which we serve under one of our Bantabas, a usual Mandinka gathering spot, or unwind with pre-dinner drinks while soaking in the serene surroundings.
Our communal plunge pool in the courtyard is a great way to beat the heat and relax after a long day exploring The Gambia. The pool’s seclusion and privacy allow for complete relaxation, and we encourage you to take advantage of this amenity during your stay at Mandinka Lodge. Our plunge pool is a refreshing break that will leave you feeling rejuvenated and ready to tackle your next adventure in The Gambia.
